The lineup featured Pete Rose ,Joe Morgan, Tony Perez and Johnny Bench and company was a murderer's row of a lineup which was formidable throughout the early to mid part of the 70s but lacked championship hardware. The 1975 Cincinnati Reds were managed by Manager Sparky Anderson. The Reds were a dominant team in 1975 that had a record of 108-54 which was the best record in MLB including finishing 20 games ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers in National League West Division.

Second Baseman Joe Morgan of the Cincinnati Reds was the National League MVP in 1975 including batting average of .327 and 17 home runs and 94 RBIS. In the NLCS against the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Reds did quick work winning in 3 straight games. Then it was the showdown in the World Series against the Boston Red Sox.

The Reds won in 7 games against the Boston Red Sox in the 1975 World Series on the road in Boston at Fenway Park. In Game 7,the Reds were losing 3-0 until they rallying to win especially when Morgan hit a single in the 9th inning. The Reds won the championship which was its first since 1940. The Reds were in the 1970 World Series and the 1972 World Series and lost to the Baltimore Orioles and the Oakland As respectively.

The third time was the charm to get over the hump for the Cincinnati Reds. Overall this Reds team may have been arguably the greatest team ever due to their dominance equivalent to the 1927 New York Yankees especially the home record at 64-17.
