49ers Strike Gold on Thursday Night in Melbourne

The Los Angeles Rams looked like the most dominant team in football entering the season. Last night, the San Francisco 49ers made them look mortal.

San Fran beat LA with a score of 27-7, a dominant win against a storied divisional rival. The Rams simply came out flat. They couldn’t get stops defensively or get a flow going on offense. 

Reigning MVP Matthew Stafford had no touchdowns and threw an interception. Kyren Williams was the only player to score for Los Angeles. 

The biggest splash in the offseason, Myles Garrett, had no pressures against the 49ers. It was his first time since 2018 that he recorded zero pressures in a game. 

Brock Purdy led the 49ers offense, and he did it really well. He had three touchdowns and sliced the LA defense up. Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel turned back the clock by each of them scoring touchdowns. 

This was a huge win for San Fran, and a huge loss for LA. Even though it’s only week one, there’s only 16 games left. The Rams have to find chemistry and a flow state fast before it’s too late.

For the 49ers, they just have to remain healthy and they will be able to compete. The NFC is essentially wide open, and defeating the Super Bowl favorite Rams is a huge confidence booster.
