The Week That Was | NCAA Men's & Women's Tournament Recap

The Men's and Women's College Basketball Tournament continues to move forward as teams are vying for the elusive national championship. Currently the Sweet 16 is in full swing as #2 seeded Duke Blue Devils beat the #3 seeded North Carolina by score of 47-38 as Oluchi Okanawa had her third double double:12 points and 12 rebounds. Duke advances to the Elite 8.

Top seeded South Carolina Gamecocks beat #4 seeded Maryland Terrapins by score of 71-67 to advance to the Elite 8. MiLaysia Fulwiley scored 23 points off the bench. Chloe Kitts scored 15 points from the starting lineup of South Carolina. 3 seeded LSU plays against 2 seeded North Carolina State. Then Ole Miss will play against UCLA.

On Saturday 3 seeded Notre Dame play 2 seeded TCU including 5 seeded Tennessee play top seeded Texas Longhorns and 3 seeded Oklahoma play 2 seeded UConn. Finally the top seeded USC would be without Ju-Ju Watkins who suffered a torn ACL against Mississippi State in the second round. The Trojans won 96-59 despite Watkins absence. Kiki Iriafen scored 36 points. Overall in the 2 seeded Duke will play against the South Carolina Gamecocks for the right to advance to the Final Four.

In the men's basketball tournament,St John's lost and was upset by Arkansas who was the 10th seed by score of 75-66. Meanwhile St John's was the 2 seed. There will no 3-peat for the UConn Huskies as they lost to Florida by score of 77-75. Then later on Maryland won on a buzzer beater as Freshman Derik Queen's shot was at fadeaway off the glass to give the Terps a 72-71 win to advance to the Sweet 16. In Sweet 16 on Thursday Florida beat Maryland by score of 87-71. Then Duke beat Arizona by score of 100-93 as True Freshman Cooper Flagg scored 30 points grabbed 6 rebounds and dishing out 7 assists. Alabama won 113-88 over BYU where 25 3-point shots was made including 10-3 point shots that was made by Mark Sears overall scoring 34 points. Aden Holloway scored 23 points off the bench. Texas Tech rallied to win in overtime against Arkansas by score of 85-83.


Duke will play Alabama on Saturday for a chance to advance to the Final Four. Meanwhile Texas Tech will play Florida on Saturday for the chance to advance to the Final Four. That's the scenario in the NCAA Tournament thus far. See what happens with Sweet 16 matchups:
